Prior Experience

Prior to joining DarrowEverett, Brooklin spent more than a decade as a staff attorney with Rhode Island Legal Services (RILS), the state’s largest nonprofit provider of civil legal aid. While there, Brooklin served as family court-appointed counsel to hundreds of the state’s most vulnerable individuals. Her practice focused on family law and helping individuals achieve financial stability through the Family Preservation Project and the Responsible Parent Project.

In the Family Preservation Project, Brooklin represented parents facing allegations of abuse, neglect, dependency, or the involuntary termination of parental rights brought by the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families. She advocated vigorously to protect her clients’ constitutionally guaranteed parental rights, ensuring each client was afforded a fair opportunity to reunify with or maintain custody of their children. Her work required sound judgment and decisive advocacy in matters where the consequences for families were immediate and life-altering.

Through the Responsible Parent Project, Brooklin represented non-custodial parents facing potential incarceration related to alleged contempt of court for child support obligations. Throughout her work at RILS, she managed a high-volume caseload and spent the majority of her career litigating in family court. She brings this depth of courtroom experience and client advocacy to her role at DarrowEverett.
